A Non-Governmental Organisation in medical technology, Zomujo has launched a mental health initiative aimed at improving access to care, destigmatising mental health and reducing the overall mental health burden.
The launch was held at Korle-Bu and was attended by the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Youth and Sports, KGL Foundation, WHO Ghana, Mental Health Authority, and members of the public.
The new platform, powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI), offers free mental health support to users through trained peer counsellors.
Zomujo has trained 100 peer counsellors across the country to provide this valuable service, ensuring that users receive support from people who understand the unique challenges faced by their peers.
During the launch event, Teata Duut, Founder of Zomujo shared the story behind the organisation and its mission to address the growing mental health crisis among the youth.
He highlighted the importance of providing free, personalised and confidential mental health support, especially for those who may not have access to traditional therapy or counselling services.
The guest speakers Director RSIM, Ministry of Health, Dr. Wisdom Atiwoto; Director, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Horen Quarshiga and Head, Psychiatry Department, KBTH, Dr. Dela Fiagbe spoke about the significance of this platform in addressing the mental health needs of young people.
They emphasised the role of technology in breaking down barriers to mental health support and creating a more inclusive and equitable system.
Nii Annorbah-Sarpei, Programmes Manager, KGL Foundation shed more light on the partnership between Zomujo and the KGL Foundation and how together, they are empowering lives through innovative technology.
Zomujo's peer counsellors also shared their experiences and the impact that the platform has had on their lives and the lives of those they have helped. They spoke about the importance of providing support to those who may not have access to traditional therapy or counselling services and how this platform has helped to fill this gap.
Attendees also had the opportunity to engage in interactive discussions and ask questions about the platform and its capabilities.
They learned about the extensive training and support provided to peer counsellors and the measures in place to ensure the safety and privacy of users.
The launch event of Zomujo's new mental health showcased the organisation's commitment to empowering young people with the tools they need to take care of their mental health.
With its AI-powered platform and trained peer counsellors, Zomujo is making a real difference in the lives of young people and setting a new standard for accessible and affordable mental health support.
