Ransford Antwi, a Sunyani-based businessman has hailed Stephen Appiah as Ghana's best-ever captain, insisting that Ghanaians will continue to cherish him for his selflessness and dedication to serving his country.
According to Antwi, who was very close to the Black Stars when Appiah was skipper of the national team, he witnessed at firsthand the leadership qualities of the captain whenever he visited the team in camp.
''It wasn't like there were no issues in the camp of Black Stars at the time, but how he managed to smoothly nip them in the bud is what made him an exceptional leader," he said.
In recognition of the numerous citations presented to the former skipper, at Abesim over the weekend, Antwi urged him to enjoy himself whilst waiting for the right call, for proper state recognition and also to take up his rightful place in the running of football in Ghana.
"There'll surely be that special call from someone who cherishes and respects you, one day. You'll forever be our Captain Fantastic because not many Ghanaians have ever demonstrated the level of commitment, determination and the will to die for the nation like you did for us," he added.
