The Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare has outlined the requirements persons who are to be vaccinated must meet before they get the newly-developed Covid-19 vaccine that has been procured by government.
Speaking in an interview with Joy News’ Elton Brobbey, Dr Nsiah-Asare said participants must be well hydrated and healthy to take the shot.
“There are some precautions that you have to take. Eat well, drink a lot of water, and take paracetamol in case you have pain at the site of your vaccination or get pains in your arm,” he said.
The Presidential Advisor further disclosed that persons going take the vaccine must present an identification card; Ghana Card, National Health Insurance card, SNNIT card or Driver’s License to be eligible to take a shot.
According to him, it is for record keeping and to also assist the health workers in administering the vaccines that have been procured.
“Except the Johnson and Johnson which is one dose, the other vaccines you need two shots. So we have to make sure that when you take the first one we will know the drug we gave you so that the next time you come we will not give you AstraZeneca dose,” he explained.
Moreover, Dr Nsiah-Asare joined President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia to assure Ghanaians that the Covid-19 vaccines are safe and would not pose any threat to the health of any citizen.
Dispelling the conspiracy theories surrounding the newly-developed vaccine, he said “I can assure you that these vaccines are very safe. There are no serious aversions that we have witnessed anywhere. What you have been seeing and reading on social media [is untrue], forget about them.”
Already, President Akufo-Addo and his wife, Rebecca Akufo-Addo have set the example by taking the first shot of the Covid-19 vaccine in the country.
Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife, Samira Bawumia followed suit and encouraged others to do same.
Meanwhile, the first phase of Covid-19 dissemination will begin Tuesday, March 2, 2021.
