The Chief of Aburi and Adontenhene of Akuapem, Otoobuor Gyan Kwesi II, has urged the Electoral Commission to conduct itself in a manner that leaves no room for anyone to believe it favors any political party in the run-up to the 2024 elections.
According to him, although the EC is independent, it is crucial for the election management body to ensure a transparent process free from any allegations of rigging.
"The Electoral Commission was established for Ghanaians, you cannot be the Electoral Commissioner forever, you will certainly leave so do what is right."
"Declare the rightful outcome , don't add or subtract to favour anybody," he added.
He was addressing stakeholders during a durbar to swear-in the newly enstooled Chief of Nsawam, Nana Kwamena Ansah.
Ahead of the general elections, there have been calls by Civil Society Organisations, political actors among others individuals and interest groups for the EC to conduct a transparent elections.
The biggest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been at loggerheads with the EC, accusing it working to favour the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.
