An armed robbery incident in Yeji has left one person injured. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning as the victims were traveling from Yeji to a village called Blacky Kope in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region.
One of the victims sustained injuries, while the other remained unharmed after being attacked by armed robbers.
According to Adom News, the individuals were attacked as they were traveling on a motorbike to another village for business.
Another victim managed to escape the scene to a nearby community called Parambo and sought medical attention for his injured friend.
"We realized there was a motor following us slowly. As soon as the motor passed by us, we heard gunshots and my friend asked me to stop. I disagreed and continued to ride the motor but the person who shot came towards us but I escaped and got to Kobre where the robbers went back."
The victim, Toffic Habib was shot in the lower jaw although he was wearing a helmet.
He disclosed that he nearly tumbled from the motorcycle, believing he had been struck by an object. Despite his request for the rider to halt, he did not stop due to ongoing gunfire.
Toffic Habib stated that he realized he was shot after they escaped and removed his helmet and was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital but was asked to visit another health facility.
“They still chased us on our way to Kopre but we managed to escape. I removed my helmet and realized I was bleeding from my nose and felt dizzy. My friend asked for directions to the nearest hospital and took me there. When we got to the hospital, we were directed to go elsewhere because the hospital didn’t have the necessary materials to help me.”
