Kingsley Agyapong Boateng, better known as Yaw Ray, (born 15 September, 1995) is a Ghanaian singer-songwriter and performer, known for his versatile musical style that blends elements of highlife, Afrobeats, R&B, and Dancehall.
Hailing from Kumasi, Yaw Ray's musical journey began as a rapper, collaborating with a fellow high school mate who was an aspiring producer.
Together, they recorded demos using limited resources and church instruments, exploring various genres.
Over time, Yaw Ray's exploration led him to discover his natural talent for singing and captivating audiences with his acoustic guitar performances. Drawing inspiration from legendary highlife artists like Daddy Lumba and Kojo Antwi, Yaw Ray developed a unique sound that fuses contemporary influences with the timeless essence of highlife and Afrobeats.
