Former Black Stars winger Yaw Preko has heaped praises on Ghana youth international Yaw Yeboah after the youngster's nomination for the CAF Youth Player of the Year.
Preko, who coached Yeboah at the African Youth Championship and World Cup earlier this year, was full of praise and admiration of the starlet's talent.
“He is a future national star. When given the right guidance, he will blossom,” he told Asempa Sports.
“A playmaker who can liven up games is rare in this country. He has great understanding of the game and has the potential to be one of the best in the future.”
Preko was however skeptical about the former Right to Dream Academy player’s chances of annexing the prestigious CAF Youth player of the year.
He was of the view that the World Cup won by Mali stands their nominated players in better stead for the award.
“The Malian who won the golden ball at the World Cup will be the main competitor for Yaw. If not for Ghana’s poor showing at the World Cup, it would have been a straight race for Yaw.”
“This nomination is good for Yaw however. It will propel him to work harder. He has the talent.”
“If we talk about skills and talent in the country, he is one of the best.”
“Anything can happen in the awards, it won’t come as a shock if he doesn’t win but he is good enough to be there”
Preko was recently appointed the assistant coach of Accra Hearts of Oak and has been tasked alongside head coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi to restore the club to its glory days.
