The 2023/24 Ghana Women's Premier (WPL) is nearing its climax as top teams gear up for the title showdown.
With just three games left, neither the Northern Zone nor the Southern Zone has a clear frontrunner, although Ampem Darkoa Ladies and Hasaacas Ladies boast significant leads.
The competition in both zones this season has been fierce, reflecting the growing competitiveness of women's football clubs.
Ampem Darkoa holds the top spot in the Northern Zone, despite a mixed season which has seen them suffer five defeats in the 15 games played so far while winning ten.
Despite challenges, Nana Joe Adarkwa's side maintains a four-point lead over Northern Ladies, setting the stage for an intense final stretch with both teams vying for a playoff final spot.
In the Northern sector, newly-promoted sides Fosu Royal Ladies and Kumasi Sports Academy hold respectable positions on the table – 6th and 8th respectively, with potential for shifts as the season concludes.

In the Southern Zone, Hasaacas Ladies dominate, yet their lead is far from secure, facing stiff competition from Faith Ladies, who previously defeated them in the Women's Super Cup. Five points separate the two sides.
While Sea Lions face relegation to the Division One League, Jonina Ladies have shown improvement under new head coach Joseph Osei Owusu.
Yussf Basigi, head coach of Hasaacas Ladies, acknowledges the heightened competitiveness of the league, emphasizing the challenge of securing victories, even at home.
"I am happy that everybody is seeing the investment that has been put in the women's league. There is no regret at all," he said lauding the efforts of the Ghana Football Association.
"I think that we are growing day in and day out. Those times, Hasaacas could score 5-0, 6-0 and even 9-0 but now you can't find that. It's the same for Ampem Darkoa Ladies. These days, the wins are narrow which means all the teams are doing very well now. It's not a one-way traffic like before.
"Had it been some years back, we would have already won the league in our zone and Ampem Darkoa would have also done the same and the rest of the matches would be mere formalities. We would not use our regular players but we will be winning.
"But now, even when my regular player is injured, I try to find a way to ensure she's half-fit to play because the other opponents are equally good."
Both Hasaacas Ladies and Ampem Darkoa appear favourites for the playoffs, but they must navigate through the remaining fixtures to fend off their opponents.
