Mr. Sampson Kwaku Boafo, Minister of Chieftaincy and Culture, has called on religious bodies to champion the cause of unity for nation-building.
He said for any nation to develop, there was the need for the people to remain united and fight for a common goal. Mr Boafo made the call in an address read for him at a day's forum in Accra organized by the World Theocratic Religious Organizations on Tuesday.
He said unity played a very important role in the socio-economic development of the nation and that it must be placed first on everyone's agenda.
Mr Boafo called on religious leaders to use the pulpit to educate their members on government's policies and programmes.
Apostle Kadmiel Emmanuel Howard Agbalanyoh, President of the World Theocratic Organization advised Christians to be more united as Jesus Christ stood for unity and peace.
He called on Ghanaians to ensure that sanity prevailed as the country prepared for another elections. Apostle Agbalanyoh called on the electorate to reject any politician whose utterances were meant to create chaos and confusion in the country.
Prophet Mognajeeba Jehu-Appiah, Head of the Musama Disco Christo Church, who chaired the function advised Christians to open a new chapter by refraining from acts which hinder national development. He appealed to politicians to accept the results of the December polls in good faith.
