The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo has advised both private and public workplaces to run a shift system as a means to control the spread of Covid-19.
"All workplaces, public and private, must employ a shift-system for workers, in addition to the use of virtual platforms for business or work.
In his 23rd address to the nation updating Ghanaians on steps taken by Government to curb the spread of the virus encouraged the "use of virtual platforms" for conferences and workshops.
In the absence of that, all conferences and workshops should be conducted with all the appropriate protocols.
His address to the nation comes after the recent surge in active Covid-19 cases recorded in the country as well as the detection of a new variant of the virus in the country.
According to the Ghana Health Service, the country's active rate is currently averaging about 700 new infections daily with 5,358 active cases and 416 deaths.
The President further stated that "Given that recent studies show that the UK and other new variants are being transmitted within the population, we should all understand that our current situation could get very dire if efforts are not made, both on the part of Government and by you, the citizenry, to help contain the virus".
