After weeks of intensive preparation, the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Job Creation, has officially launched the Technical and Steering Committees for the Work Abroad Programme.
The initiative marks a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to facilitate structured and legal labour migration for Ghanaian youth.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Executive Officer of YEA, Malik Basintale, reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to advancing President John Mahama’s vision of decent labour migration.

“We are determined to ensure that Ghanaian youth travel through well-regulated channels, gain valuable experience abroad, and return to contribute meaningfully to national development,” he said.
The committees are composed of representatives from key institutions including the Ministry of Labour, YEA, Labour Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of the Interior, Ghana Immigration Service, the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), the International Labour Organisation (ILO), International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the University of Ghana’s Centre for Migration Studies.

This collaborative framework is expected to enhance coordination, oversight, and strategic planning of the Work Abroad Programme, ensuring the safety and welfare of participants. T
