The Women's League Board, (WLB) the body charged with the organization of women's football in the country has proposed Saturday, May 3 as the date for the commencement of the much- awaited Women's League.
The decision was announced last Friday after a meeting with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the stakeholders in the women's game.
According to the programme released by the WLB to the GNA Sports, the programme will start with the registration of players from now up to April 24 with the start of the league scheduled for May 3.
The Zonal competition will he held from August 2 to August 10 with the National Championships taking place from August 17 to August 24.
The format of the league will be organized with the winners and runners-up in the regional leagues to qualify to
compete in the zonal league.
The Winners and runners up of the zonal championship will then progress to compete in the national championships.
In the absence of any sponsorship, the GFA will provide some token
amount for the players to take care of their transportation in
addition to taking care of the officiating fees and provision of footballs for the competition.
According to the organizers, the competition has been grouped into the following zones; Zone One comprises Northern, Upper East, Upper West, Zone Two has Brong Ahafo, Ashanti, Central/Western Regions, Zone Three is made up of Greater Accra, Eastern and Volta Regions.
