Mrs Selina Yeboaah, President of Brong-Ahafo Regional chapter of Aglow International of Ghana, has urged parents especially mothers to participate actively in the campaign for peace during the impending December general election.
She noted that “children listen to their parents than other relatives and hence should educate their wards on the need to sustain the nation’s peace”.
Mrs Yeboaah was speaking at a conference in Sunyani at the weekend, aimed at praying to God to help sustain peace in the country before, during and after December polls.
The one-day maiden regional conference was attended by women’s groups and fellowships from Berekum, Bechem, Nsoatre, Drobo, Wenchi, Techiman, Goaso, Abesim, Sunyani and New-Town in Sunyani.
The conference was under the theme, “Hear the word of God O ye Women for the death has come up into our windows and entered into our palace to cut off our children”.
Mrs Yeboaah stated that it was important for women to contribute their quota to maintaining peace and stability in the country, saying, “in view of the impending elections, we as Christian mothers cannot be unconcerned about the looming danger to the nation”.
The Chapter President added that the Sunyani area branch of the association had from the beginning of the year been praying for the nation every third week of each month.
She explained that the association was non-denominational and was established in the region about 21 years ago and had 120 members.
