That marriage is a sacred and important institution established by God is not in doubt. This assertion is further amplified by the Bible which rates marriage as the most honourable institution in the circle of organisations known to man.
“Marriage is honourable among all, and the bed undefiled, but fornicators and adulterers God will judge,” Hebrews 13:4.
In recent times, however, the sacred institution of marriage appears to be under siege, given the seemingly high rate of divorce globally. Even more alarming is the prevalence of divorce among Christian couples in Ghana.
Data from the 2021 Population and Housing Census (PHC) have revealed that 553,065 persons in Ghana had their marriages dissolved while 405,090 have separated.
According to population analysts, social science researchers and family life counsellors, the causes of divorce and separation among married couples are many and varied.
These include incompatibility at different levels, very challenging career or job demands, work and family life imbalance, in-laws and third parties, childlessness, financial pressures, infidelity, sex, and intimacy issues among others.
It is against this background, that under the inspiring and dynamic leadership of the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministry (CEM) Pastorate, Rev. Dr. Steve Mensah and Rev. Mrs Jane Mensah, through its Marriage Counselling Unit are hosting this year’s Singles and Married Conference dubbed “Relational Matters: The Hidden Truth.”
The conference which will be organised at the Rehoboth Temple of CEM, North Legon, Accra, is scheduled to commence on Wednesday 13th September 2023 with an evening session. This would be followed by a morning and evening session on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th of September 2023 respectively.
Saturday 16th September 2023 has been dedicated to addressing relational challenges of Pastors and their spouses as well as church leaders and workers. This would be in the morning.
Seasoned marriage and relationship counsellors such as Rev. Emmanuel Asiedu–Appiah, Rev. Dr. Samuel Kisseadoo and Mama Francisca Duncan Williams are on the bill to provide valuable insights into interesting topics such as sex in marriage, divorce and related matters, family life challenges of pastors, church leaders and workers among others.
Friday night which is the 15th of September will see a special talk show hosted by the first lady of the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministry and the Convener of LoveBirds 2023 conference, Rev. Mrs. Jane Mensah.
In addition to the aforementioned speakers, the panel on Friday will also be graced by Rev. Mrs Catherine Onwuiduokit, Lawyer Kwaku Yamoah Paintsil, Rev. Mrs. Theresa Wiafe–Asante, PG Sebastian and moderated by Edem Knight-Tay.
There is adequate time for questions and answers have been incorporated into all the sessions so patrons can freely ask their nagging, sensitive and almost tabooed relationship questions for the appropriate responses.
The evening session of Friday 15th September 2023 would be a panel discussion that would provide a unique opportunity for patrons to get up close and personal with the distinguished panel that would be assembled for a very worthy course.
The panel discussion promises to bring to the fore, deep-rooted relational challenges, and issues that most couples tend to grapple with and by the same token provide time-tested solutions and/or remedies to such challenges.
So, whether, you are a Senior High School graduate, tertiary student, or a bachelor or spinster who is dating courting or even married, the place to be from Wednesday 13th to Sunday 17th September 2023 is the Rehoboth Temple of the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministry, North Legon in Accra.
You will definitely receive godly counsel that will help you master your relationship issues, for it is written:
“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety” (Proverbs 11:14.)
