Minister for National Security, Albert Kan-Dapaah has taken his turn before Parliament’s bi-partisan panel probing an alleged leaked tape plotting the ousting of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
Chairman of the committee, Samuel Atta Akyea indicated that this will be held behind closed doors including the rest of today's interrogation of witnesses.
This invitation has become necessary as it came up that some individuals purportedly connected to the tape were invited by officials from the National Investigations Bureau (NIB).
On August 31, one of the senior police officers implicated in the leaked tape plotting Supt Emmanuel Gyebi said he was surprised when his name came up during the testimony of Daniel Bugri Naabu.
According to the officer, information he gathered indicated that the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) had invited persons of interest in the alleged plot to oust the IGP but he was not questioned.
He said, he subsequently reached out to one of his colleagues who was heard on the tape for clarification and was asked to ignore the issue.
“When I heard that my name has been mentioned before the Committee that I was part of the people or I was the person who had agreed to meet that witness at Afrikiko to accompany him to the president, that is when I called Mr. Asare and he told me that this has never happened and he doesn’t know why my name is being brought up.
“[He added that] they have even been invited earlier on by the NIB, National Investigations Bureau and my name was never mentioned. I have not been invited so that is why I was so surprised that all of a sudden I am hearing that this is what has happened.,” he told the Committee.

It is on the back of this that the National Security Minister, Albert Kan-Dapaah has been asked to be present today.
He is currently present in the conference room and will be the first to testify.
The committee is hoping to get some information regarding what his outfit may have found during their probe.
Supt Gyebi and Supt George Asare have also been spotted arriving in Parliament.
Former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bugri Naabu just made an appearance for further investigations.
On Tuesday, the Inspector-General of Police during his appearance before the committee, denied all the allegations made against him by the officers.
He refuted claims that he orchestrated the recording of the leaked tape, purportedly containing discussions about his removal.
Dr. Dampare characterized the accusations against him as baseless and without evidence.
He emphasized that these claims have not only caused harm to his family but have also tarnished the reputation of the police service.
Today's hearing is set to start soon.
