The Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah has lauded private sector operators for their enormous contribution to the development of the region despite the ravaging effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Minister said the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) is committed to supporting all businesses in the region.
Thus, an initiative dubbed “Enterprise Western Region and Entrepreneurial Governance” is being introduced to complement efforts of the central government to improve private sector businesses.
The initiative, he believes will, “forge a close collaboration for the private sector to effectively engage in the productive assets of the Region to create the necessary synergies to enhance productivity for job and wealth creation.”
Noting that, the private sector is “the game changer,” Mr Darko-Mensah said the initiative will empower the businesses to have the potential to employ more and facilitate the overall development of the region and the country at large.
He also announced that processes are underway to hold the second edition of the Western Regional Business Awards.
The 2021 Business Award will be recognising individuals who have over the years contributed immensely in their various fields of endeavours towards the sustenance and development of the Region.
It is also to acknowledge outstanding private businesses in the Western Region that showed resilience, profitability and created job opportunities in the face of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
