Well Done, S.A.D.A.

The Northern Youth for Peace and Development (NYUPED) wishes to congratulate the Chief Executive Officer and the entire Board of Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) for their perseverance, persistence and commitment, in spite of all the pressures and agitations embarked on by NYUPED, to ensuring the actualization of the SADA dream for the betterment of the lives of the peoples of the three Northern Regions. When NYUPED first started putting pressure on Government and agitated for the implementation of the goals for which SADA was created, many were the forces who thought our Organization was being unduly insensitive and inconsiderate. Some partisan-oriented person even branded us as “enemies of progress” and we were castigated and persecuted in various ways. But thank God that today, our actions have yielded positive results and our expectations and demands for our peoples humanity has somehow been met, even though we expect more to be done to expedite the meeting of the infrastructural and economic deficiency in development of the North, using SADA as catalyst towards the realization of these objectives. The development of the three Northern Regions is imperative in the face of the principles of social-equity and social justice, which are included in the tenets of our Organization; the NYUPED constitutes the core message with which we carry out our advocacy out-reach programmes in the Northern Regions to solicit a better life for our people. There are quite a number of prominent and prosperous Northerners who are cozily and comfortably residing in the South; especially in Accra, who are satisfied and happy with their lot and would attempt not a comment on the plight of their people at home in the North. Even the presence of their under-privileged kith and kin roaming the streets of Kumasi and Accra in tattered penury does note evoke any emotions in them. It is for this cause that NYUPED agitates for a good life for the peoples of the Northern Regions. Having said this, we wish to particularly acknowledge the efforts of the Vice President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for his dynamism, presence of mind and proactiveness in getting the SADA project underway. We also especially want to congratulate Dr. Gilbert Iddi, the Chief Executive Officer, for his great dedication and commitment to the course of the SADA. His know-how and fine business acumen has secured the SADA dream for the transformation of the Northern Regions, and we are very grateful to him. However, NYUPED will continue to monitor and evaluate the work of SADA and periodically comment or make fair assessment as we socially audit its performance. We will give credit where and when it is due, and criticize constructively when there is cause to do so. After all, citizens’ active participation in the democratic dispensation for accountable governance also borders on citizens’ community actions to keep public officials and mandate holders on their toes to do the right things. SADA is now on course, and so far, so good. Release by Northern Youth for Peace and Development 16th July, 2012 at exactly 1:30pm PRINCE HARDI ADAMS Executive Director (NYUPED)
