The Deputy National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Osman Ayariga, has issued a stern warning to individuals expected to take up roles under the incoming administration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking during the party’s victory walk in Accra on Saturday, 4th January 2025, Ayariga emphasized that the youth of the party would not tolerate arrogance or actions that could jeopardize the NDC’s renewed mandate.
Addressing party supporters gathered to celebrate the NDC’s recent electoral victory, Mr Ayariga stressed the critical role appointees would play in ensuring the government’s success.
He cautioned against complacency and behaviours that could alienate the grassroots or undermine the party’s unity.
“We won’t entertain any arrogant appointees. The youth will not stand for actions that risk taking the party back into opposition,” he said passionately.
The Deputy Youth Organizer's remarks reflect a broader call within the party for accountability and effective governance as the NDC prepares to assume office. With the youth constituting a significant part of the party’s support base, Mr Ayariga highlighted the need for appointees to remain connected to the people and uphold the principles of humility and service.
He also urged party members to actively engage with the leadership to ensure the administration delivers on its promises.
As President-elect Mahama prepares to announce his appointees, Ayariga’s statement serves as a reminder of the expectations placed upon those chosen to serve.
The NDC’s return to power, buoyed by widespread youth mobilization, has heightened demands for inclusive and responsible governance.
