The Dangme East District Security Council (DEDSC) has refused to issue permit to some chiefs of Ada to embark on demonstration to draw government's attention to sea erosion along the coast of Ada.
The chiefs had scheduled the August 02 for the demonstration to protest against the government’s delay in assisting them to solve the problem.
The District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police Kwabena M. Arthur, said the date slated for the demonstration coincided with the celebration of the annual Ada-Okor Asafutufiamu festival.
In addition to that, the police in the district are few and have to request for reinforcement from Tema or Accra hence the postponement.
The chief of Ada Foah, Nene Tawiah Tsetsegah 1V said that despite the refusal they would embark on the demonstration to send a signal to the government "as the situation is devastating and we are losing all our properties to the erosion".
