The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has assured to return to headmasters the responsibility of feeding school children in public schools.
John Mahama says the decision by government to supply food to schools from the National Buffer Stock has on many occasions brought about a shortage of food.
Speaking at a mammoth rally as part of his campaign tour in Suhum, the NDC leader said his promise to return the responsibility of feeding the schools is to enable the heads of schools have control over the feeding.
"We will give the feeding responsibility back to the headmasters because the buffer stock is not able to meet the food supply chain in the schools and the heads complain of food shortages.
"A certain headmaster told me he had to borrow money to enable him purchase food from the market before he could feed his students because the buffer stock could not supply them with food.
"We are not going to force them to buy from the buffer stock even if the food is not available," he stated.
The former President emphasised his resolve to make TVET education accessible to persons who may want to learn a vocation.
