Gospel musician Joe Mettle has lamented Ghana's lack of adequate event venues, which makes it difficult for artists to explore different stage productions.
He made the assertion while speaking to Host George Quaye on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z on Saturday, June 18, 2022. “In terms of venue, we really do need venues, every time we talk about productions and updating the quality of productions, but some of the venues do not have the capacity to take such productions”, he said.
According to ‘Ye Obua Mi’ hit-maker, the gospel industry is plagued with a number of setbacks, including inadequate venues for performances. His concerns come after he was forced to truncate his tour across major towns in the country due to lack of adequate venues.
Joe Mettle explained that gospel artists are forced to set up part of the equipment needed for their productions which he claims isn’t ideal.
He also shared his experience and made a comparison to a production set in South Africa, and how he was grateful for the already-existing auditorium that made his production there simple. “The first time I experienced a well-equipped venue was in South Africa, for a concert, the stage moves down and up and I was required to stand at a particular place and the auditorium was built in such a way that it can be used for whatsoever production you want to do”, Joe intimated.
Joe Mettle believes and hopes that Ghana, just like South Africa would be able to make provisions for such venues needed for their productions.
