Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan says the team has no excuse than to win the AFCON trophy as they come up against the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire in an epic final in Bata, Equatorial Guinea.
The Al Ain star makes a return to the starting line-up after injury kept him out of the game against host, Equatorial Guinea in which the Stars cruised to a 3-0 victory, amidst chaos and drama.
Speaking exclusively to Joy Sports' Kwame Dwomoh-Agyemang ahead of Sunday’s game Gyan said:
“We are well prepared. Final is final. Everybody is automatically psyched up for the final.
"We have got no excuses. We have to just stay focused for it. I think everybody is prepared.
“Anything can happen but we need to stay focused and do what we do best.
Asked if he was fit for the game, he said:
“I am responding to treatment. Everything is going on well. I am positive about it.”
The Stars play their neighbors Ivory Coast who have had the better of the exchanges in the last outings.
Apart from, the 1992 debacle, the Stars were also handed a 3-1 defeat in a group game at the Gabon- Equatorial Guinea AFCON 2010.
Ghana hope to reestablish their dominance of the Elephants but will have to play above themselves on Sunday.
