Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture, Constance Adomaa Takyi says they have enabled the French Ambassador to act freely to support the Creative Arts sector.
In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Madam Takyi debunked claims made by rapper Guru that the French Ambassador is working harder than the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture.
On April 24, the rapper took to Twitter to call out the Ministry over their failure to prioritize the needs of creatives and, also put their works out to the rest of the world.
He wrote: "Our France Ambassador is working harder than our Creative and Tourism Ministry. Appreciate her energy."
However, Constance Adomaa Takyi describes his statement as “untrue” and “unfortunate”.
According to her, Guru and another person comparing the role of the ministry and the ambassador are getting it all wrong.
“It’s unfortunate but certainly not true. Guru is comparing two different things. The Ministry exists with a different mandate and the embassy’s diplomatic missions also exist and has other mandates. If the ambassador is also working in-line to promote the arts, I don’t see anything wrong with that,” she said.
She also outlined that the ministry has been able to set the tone for the free flow of engagements between the French Ambassador and the Creative sector.
“We have set the tone for her to have the enabler to freely do her work. She is also supposed to promote her country so if she thinks Arts and culture are what will help her it’s not wrong.”
Musicians Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Kwabena Kwabena, and others with support from French Ambassador to Ghana, Anne Sophie, were in France for the ‘Accra in Paris’ concert which will take place this weekend.
While in France, the stars have been projected on various platforms including National TV to talk about the concert and the music industry.
This concert has also given a platform for Sarkodie and Stonebwoy to unite contrary to reports that they are not on good terms. Their fans must be excited about the union.
The likes of Doreen Avio, Dr Pounds, Guru, DKB and a few others have heaped praises on Her Excellency for her contribution to the sector.
