Government’s Spokesperson on Governance and Legal Affairs, Herbert Krapa is optimistic that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will win five of the eight Parliamentary seats in the Oti Region.
His confidence was borne of the belief that President Nana Akufo-Addo's government had performed well during its four years in power.
“I have told the leadership of the party to target a minimum of five constituencies hoping and expecting that they should be able to deliver for the New Patriotic Party. We are hopeful that we will also take some Members of Parliament with the President so that governance can be smooth for us,” he said.
Mr. Krapa noted that the current government has outlined a number of social interventions, infrastructure development and roads in the region hence the need to vote for the NPP come December 7.
These comments were made in his address at Dambai on Sunday, November 9, when he donated some fifty motorbikes to the Oti NPP campaign team.
The bikes which are worth ₵200,000 are part of his efforts to win the 2020 elections.
“We’re confident about the work that President Akufo-Addo has done in the course of four years and that the Ghanaian people will recognise, appreciate it and retain him in office to continue the good work he is doing.
"I am part of you and I intend spending some days in the Constituency to spread the good and winning message of NPP to everyone in Oti,“ he said.
The Spokesperson is an indigene of Botoku, a farming community in the region.
On his part, the Oti NPP Regional Chairman, Evans Yaw Dapaa said the party is working vigorously to take more parliamentary seats in the region.
According to him, "the NPP is doing much work in Oti than even the NDC that is saying Oti is their stronghold”.
The Chairman indicated that “ As for the five seats, it’s our target, we’re going to take five seats from the NDC, we have the Akan, Krachi West, Krachi Nchumuru, the Krachi East, Nkwanta South, and Nkwanta North” seats in mind," he said.
Mr. Dapaa was grateful for the donation and praised Mr. Krapa for his commitment to helping the party win the targed number of parliamentary seats in the region.
He pledged to ensure good maintenance of the bikes, adding that they will be disbursed to the various constituencies across the region to help carry out effective campaign activities.
