Hasaacas Ladies have set their sights on winning the maiden edition of the CAF Women's Champions League, according to head coach Yussif Basigi.
Basigi’s girls were crowned champions of the CAF Women's Champions League WAFU Zone B qualifying tournament after beating River Angles 3-1 in the finals earlier this month.
Their success at the tournament granted them automatic participation at the maiden competition to be staged in Egypt later this year.
Speaking to Joy Sports, Basigi says his side are not going to relent in their effort to win the trophy in Egypt.
‘’WAFU is gone and now we are looking up to the championship, which of course, other clubs are coming to win, too.
"We are also going in for the trophy in Egypt not because we won the WAFU Zone B, but because we will be seen as a side capable of winning and that is a motivation for the girls," he added.
Despite his team's success, Basigi warned that they will have to raise their standard to meet the demands.
‘’Right now, they [opponents] are looking up to Hasaacas Ladies and not Rivers Angels," Basigi claims.
"We won [the final] convincingly and people are imagining which team is Hasaacas Ladies from Ghana that beat Nigeria 3-1?
"So, we will be targets and for that matter, we have to also lift our game and everything of ours to another level.
"This is not the time to relax and feel that we are champions; that one is over, WAFU is over and now we're going to the main championship and we also want to set another record because we are setting the pace and it is not over yet,’’ he concluded.
Hasaacas Ladies won the Ghana Women's Premier League, the FA Cup and capped it off with the WAFU Zone B champions league success to complete a treble in the just-ended football season.
