The Communications Director of the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, says the Vice President is fully aware of the difficulties the country is faced with.
However, he [Dr Bawumia] also has concrete solutions to address these challenges.
“We admit that we have economic challenges. For example, he [Dr Bawumia] acknowledges the difficulty in managing our cedi, but he also presents his solution. In terms of jobs, here are the solutions he has. In terms of health, this is his approach,” Aboagye explained.

According to him, the Vice President, who is seeking to become president, "has never said anywhere that there are no challenges. In fact, Dr Bawumia is not on record saying that he is not part of this government. What he has done is spend time outlining all the successes of the government, while also identifying the challenges and proposing solutions to address them."
He expressed confidence that Ghanaians would vote for Dr Bawumia and the NPP based on these proposed solutions. Aboagye also argued that former President John Mahama is not the right candidate for the job.
He claimed that Mr Mahama was contradicting himself in his campaign, citing an example where "the former president went to a constituency and told the people that the economy was in such bad shape that he could not promise them a stadium. However, when he visited the Volta Region, Mahama said, "When I come back, I will build you a stadium." Aboagye criticised this as inconsistent messaging, adding that "he is campaigning against his own campaign," and that Ghanaians should not give him another chance.
Mr Aboagye made these remarks on Saturday, 9th November 2024, on Newsfile on Joy News with Samson Lardy Ayenini, where they discussed the recently held U.S. election and its potential implications for Ghana’s December election.
