A teenager sitting for ongoing West Africa Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSSCE), has been arrested together with four others on suspicion of murdering an aeronautic engineer, at Akroso near Oda.
The suspects are Samson Anim, driver of the Hyundai bus the victim boarded before he died, Ebenezer Asante, Samuel Peprah, Frank Konadu and Emmanuel Okyere, the 18-year-old who is writing the WASSSCE.
Okyere has, however, been granted police inquiry bail on "compassionate grounds" to enable him to continue with the examinations.
They were arrested by personnel of the Eastern Regional Police Command led by the Regional Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent David Kofi Gyabaa, for their alleged involvement in the murder of the aeronautic engineer, Prince Kwabena Kumi, at Oda during the Easter Holidays.
Confirming the arrests, Public Relations Officer for the Eastern Regional Police, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, said the remaining four suspects have been remanded into police custody after were arraigned before a magistrate court in Koforidua.
"They have since been remanded into prison custody charged provisionally with murder," ASP Tetteh told JoyNews Correspondent Kofi Siaw.
Prince Kwabena Kumi, was on his way to surprise his mother during the Easter holidays when the police in Akroso seized his vehicle. They alleged he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Family of the deceased has demanded justice and punitive action against the police who stopped him and seized his car because he was drunk but failed to keep him till he regains consciousness.

Sister of the deceased, Abena Osei Debrah, told Joy News her brother was prevented three times from boarding a commercial vehicle to his destination by the police. His body was later found in a ditch.
In an interview with Joy News’ Maxwell Agbagba, Abena Debrah said she suspects foul play.
According to her, although they found “a lot of wounds [cuts] on the body” the family is waiting for a postmortem to proceed.
