The Ghana striker, who was sent off during a league match on Saturday, has been heavily punished by the professional league disciplinary committee
Ghana striker Majeed Waris of French Ligue 1 side Lorient has been slapped with a six-match ban by the professional football league (LFP) disciplinary committee.
The 24-year-old was found guilty of unruly behaviour during his side’s 2-2 draw with Guingamp on Saturday during which he was shown a red card.
In a bid to retaliate a rough tackle from Guingamp attacker Jimmy Briand, Waris drew the attention of the referee who did not hesitate to give him his marching orders.
Irked by the decision, the Ghanaian refused to vacate the pitch, followed by an altercation with another Guingamp player, Younousse Sankharé.
His teammates however intervened and persuaded him to leave.
Waris will miss his side’s clash with PSG on November 21 but will be available for selection when Lorient take on Dijon in the League Cup on December 15.
The former Spartak Moscow player joined the Ligue 1 outfit last August from Turkish club Trabzonspor.
