WAFA hand Inter Allies first home defeat in Tema

A Martin Antwi first half strike handed Inter Allies their first home loss in the FCPPL on Saturday.

Going into the game, the ‘Eleven Is To One’ side had scored 10 goals and conceded only in six previous home games this campaign but visitors Wafa changed the script by gallantly protecting their 41st minute lead.

Inter Allies threatened to equalise on quiet a number of occasions but the Academy side kept to their beautiful style of play with George Waja putting up a man-of-the-match performance.

With other match day 14 games set for Sunday, Wafa have moved into second place on 24 points – two better than Aduana Stars who host Bechem United in one of the day’s five regional derbies.

Chief among them is the Accra derby which will have Great Olympics host city rivals Hearts of Oak at the Accra Stadium. This will be their 89th league fixture in as many years with Hearts having the most wins – 38. Olympics have won 22 of the derby games while 28 have ended in stalemates.

New Edubiase United will host Asante Kotoko in the Ashanti derby while Hassacas entertain Medeama SC at the Essipong Stadium.

The second Brong Ahafo derby has B.A United hosting Berekum Chelsea at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

League leaders AshantiGold are faced with a tricky test up North in a trip to All Stars at the Wa Park.
