Voting had started in earnest and was progressing steadily when the Ghana News Agency visited a number of polling stations across the country.
At the Old Ga Mantse Palace Polling Centre CO50223 in the Kinka Electoral Area of Odododiodoo Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Mr Ben Sapeh, the Presiding Officer, had set up and had educated both the election officials, party agents and the voters on their respective roles by 0650 hours and was ready to start the vote at 0700 hours.
He said there were 518 voters on the register with no transfer voters. There was one proxy voter. The names of two people, who had passed on, had been deleted. Five hundred and seventy-five each of presidential and parliamentary ballot papers were supplied.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP), National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Convention People’s Party Agents were present at the polling station. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) provided security.
At the beginning of the polls there were 22 voters in the queue led by Mr George Tagoe, 58, a former employee of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly. He told GNA that he came very early to vote because “the early bird catches the biggest worm”.
At the Christ The King Polling Centre in the Lakoo Electoral Area of Dade Kotopon Constituency in the Greater Accra Region voting was going on smoothly and those in line were orderly when the GNA visited.
