Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has urged the people of Atobiase not to forget what he describes as the frustrating hardship suffered under former President Mahama during his reign.
Speaking at a durbar of Chiefs in the Wassa East Constituency of the Western Region, he said the election of President Akufo-Addo in 2016 saved Ghana from the doldrums as a result of the mismanagement of the country by Mahama.
He stated that December's election is about stopping the country from going back to the "dark days" and protecting the "overwhelming" turn around of the economy under the governing party.
"In nearly four years, there has been a tremendous turnaround and the evidence is there for all to see. The 2020 election is about protecting the future of our country," Vice President Bawumia told the Chiefs and people of Atobiase on October 7.
According to him "this country is making progress with policies like Free SHS, One Village One Dam, One Constituency One Ambulance, One Village One Dam, Planting for Food and Jobs."
Dr Bawumia said that it is essential for the people to ensure the country is not handed over to Mahama who he claims is capable of cancelling the policies.
He also lamented that the NDC neglected Atobiase and its surrounding villages for eight years.
The Vice President said the Akufo-Addo government, on the contrary, has demonstrated its commitment to inclusive development in less than four years by extending development to communities in and around Atobiase.
"As Atobiase Hene said, there is evidence of what Nana Akufo-Addo’s government has done for the people of Atobiase in just three and half years."
"The question is, what did the NDC do in this area in eight years? The MP for this area was a Deputy Minister of Roads but the roads here are in bad shape. He and his government didn't do anything about it."
Dr Bawumia urged the people to reject former President Mahama and the NDC stating that they have nothing good to offer the area and Ghanaians.
He advocated for more votes for President Akufo-Addo to help him retain power and continue the "good works he has started for them and the country."
