In a significant boost to the campaign of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, the President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, has reaffirmed his support for the former president.
This endorsement comes at a critical time as the nation gears up for the upcoming general elections, scheduled for December 7th, 2024.
During an outdoor meeting at his palace in Anfoega, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, who also serves as the Paramount Chief of the Anfoega Traditional Area, delivered a powerful address that underscored the Volta Region's trust in John Mahama’s leadership.
The traditional leader highlighted Mahama’s track record and vision, which he believes are essential for the restoration of progress and development in both the Volta Region and Ghana as a whole.
Togbe Tepre Hodo IV praised the NDC’s commitment to implementing a 24-hour economy policy, a strategy aimed at creating jobs, particularly for the youth. He described Mahama as the embodiment of hope for many Ghanaians, especially in regions like the Volta, where the challenges of economic hardship are deeply felt.
“I see John Mahama as the hope of the Volta Region and the entire country,” Togbe Tepre Hodo IV stated. “His leadership is what we need to bring about the sustainable development that we all seek. The NDC’s vision of a 24-hour economy promises to address the pressing issue of unemployment, especially among our youth, and I pray for peaceful elections as we approach December 7th.”
The NDC in the Volta Region expressed its profound gratitude for this endorsement, viewing it as a testament to the enduring relationship between the party and the people of the Volta Region. The region has historically been a stronghold for the NDC, and this reaffirmation of support from one of its most respected traditional leaders further solidifies that bond.
Kafui Agbleze, the NDC Volta Regional Communications Officer, issued a statement following the endorsement, highlighting the importance of this support as the party works towards the general elections. “We are deeply honoured by the endorsement of Togbe Tepre Hodo IV,” Agbleze said. “This endorsement is not just for John Mahama but for the vision of the NDC, which is focused on bringing tangible development and improving the quality of life for all Ghanaians.”
Agbleze further called on all citizens, particularly those in the Volta Region, to rally behind John Mahama and the NDC. He emphasized the party’s commitment to policies that will ensure stability, progress, and prosperity for the nation.
As the December elections approach, the NDC continues to build momentum in the Volta Region, with endorsements like this one from Togbe Tepre Hodo IV signalling a strong show of confidence in the party’s leadership and vision for Ghana's future. The call for unity and support resonates deeply in the region, where the NDC has long been seen as a beacon of hope and development.
With the support of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, John Mahama’s campaign is poised to make significant strides in the upcoming elections, promising a resurgence of growth and prosperity for all Ghanaians.
