The Volta Regional Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Korsi Bodja says the governing party has consistently pursued policies and implemented projects aimed at promoting equal development across the country including the Volta region.
Mr Korsi Bodja was responding to comments made recently at the Civil Society Organizations' dialogue session by the Volta Regional Chairman of the NDC, Mr Mawutor Agbavitor, that the NPP has marginalised the people of the Volta Region.
"I recently came across your comments where you criticised the NPP government for allegedly marginalising the people of the Volta region. As the Volta Regional Organizer for the NPP, I feel compelled to address your claims and provide a more accurate assessment of the government's efforts in the region," Korsi Bodja said.
He noted that government has from 2017 to 2022 undertaken initiatives that directly benefited the people of the Volta region.
Concerning health projects, Korsi Bodja stated that Agenda 111 projects are currently being built in eight districts of the Volta Region. He also mentioned the establishment of maternity wards in various health facilities, as well as other health-related projects, currently underway in the region.
Touching on road projects, he mentioned the dualization of the Ho Main Road (Civic Centre - Sokode Gbogame) and traffic management works covering a distance of 10.5 kilometers.
He also mentioned the development of the Eastern corridor road, including the Asikuma Junction to Have road Phase 1 by Messrs First Sky Ltd, and many other road infrastructure projects in the region.
The Volta Regional NPP Organiser also emphasised agricultural projects such as rehabilitation and expansion of existing gravity schemes, which will cover a total area of 2,000 hectares for irrigation purposes. Irrigation water is supplied to over 1,000 hectares via pumped schemes. He also talked about the establishment of an Agriculture Mechanization Centre in Adaklu Waya, among other things.
He stated that there are more examples of NPP projects and the government's commitment to improving the Volta region's well-being and development.
"The mentioned projects and policies demonstrate our dedication to addressing the needs of the people and promoting socioeconomic progress in the region," he noted.
Korsi Bodja noted that it was important to avoid making sweeping statements without considering the tangible efforts made by the government.
