Vodafone Ghana has roped in 800,000 more customers nationwide, making it the fastest growing network in the country, according to Major Albert Don Chebe (rtd), Head of Corporate Communications.
Addressing a cross section of the media in Brong Ahafo, on the achievements of the company, barely two months after its launch, Major Chebe (rtd) revealed that the company had also created more than 7000 direct and indirect jobs in sales and distribution throughout the country.
“We have appointed 14 regional distributors to ensure the availability of Vodafone products nationwide, and have also injected a healthy competition and dynamism into the telecommunications industry”, he added.
The Head of Corporate Communications stressed that the company's 'broadband4u' has been rated as the best all-round service by Speednet.com, an independent international rating agency, and was 40-60 per cent cheaper than other competitors.
Major Chebe attributed the significant improvements in the network to the on-going expansion works and quality utilization, among other activities.
He explained that as a result of all these activities, Vodafone had made great improvements in its services, increased roaming traffic and has added new voice and data destinations.
“Fault resolution time has been enhanced significantly, while corporate business is showing strong growth, an indication of confidence by the government, business and corporate customers in the Company's capabilities,” Major Chebe (rtd) added.
He confirmed that the company had offered very interesting and attractive propositions to current and potential customers since its launching, and was currently running the Wednesday ‘Red Day Promo’, which allows customers to get 25 per cent extra talk time on all prepaid calls across networks, on Wednesdays.
Also running is the ‘Stock big’, ‘grow big’ and ‘win big’ Promo that offers an opportunity for all retailers, street sellers and hawkers to grow their businesses and win big in the Vodafone Stock and Win Promotions.
He further appealed to the general public to help combat the activities of cable thieves.
“The reward system is still in place and that people should partner with us so we can render quality service to our customers,” he said, adding that the company between 2006 and 2008, then (Ghana Telecom) paid more than GH¢40,000 as rewards to whistle-blowers on the activities of cable thieves.
Agyemang Prempeh, Regional Director of the Company, said the interaction with media personnel was part of a strategy to help the company get the necessary feedback from its cherished customers.
