The family of a two-year-old girl, who lived with a medical condition known as spina bifida since childhood, has expressed enormous gratitude to Vodafone Ghana for coming to their rescue.
In a touching account, Naomi Tokoli, mother of little Agnes, narrated how Vodafone Ghana’s benevolence has brought great relief and joy to the family.
She praised Vodafone Ghana for taking up the cost of the entire surgery that has redirected the fate of their daughter.
The condition, which is a birth defect, occurs when the spine and spinal cord do not form properly. It is also a type of neural tube defect that involves the incomplete development of the spinal cord or its coverings.
Commenting, Naomi said, “When Agnes was born, we realised there was a big lump at her back. I initially took her to the Worawora Hospital in the Volta region, where I was given a referral letter to Korle Bu. Following a series of medical examination, it was confirmed she needed surgery.
“However, due to the huge amount needed, we had to return home whilst the lump kept growing bigger over the months. My family and I are grateful to Vodafone for paying for the surgery, which was also successful Thank you, Vodafone.”
Commenting, Andre Tayo Jnr, Head of Brand at Vodafone Ghana said, “We remain committed to offering lifesaving surgeries to Ghanaians with critical health conditions, through our Healthline programme.
“We will continue to support and transform the lives of many Ghanaians with life-threatening conditions.”
The Vodafone Healthline is aired on UTV on Mondays at 9 pm; TV3 on Sundays at 3 pm; Adom TV on Saturdays at 8:30 pm; TV Africa on Saturday at 7:30 pm, and on Family TV on Sundays at 8 pm.
