The Venture Capital Trust Fund is planning to collaborate more with foreign investors this year, in an attempt to increase the fund’s pool so it can support more businesses.
It is hoping the collaboration will boost its fund pool to at least a hundred million dollars. It currently has about 80 million dollars at its disposal.
The company since its inception has created 39 portfolio companies and turned around several others.
Its Chief Executive Daniel Duku says much as it would want to offer more help, access to funds remains a major limitation.
That, he said, necessitates the aggressive pursuit of organizations and institutions to partner with to raise more money.
Government in the 2011 budget made available some 10 million Ghana cedis to the fund but Mr. Duku says a lot more needs to be done.
The fund was established in 2006 to provide support to the small and medium scale enterprises.
