Head of Computer Science Department at the Valley View University, John Kingsley Arthur, has indicated that Ghana's prospect in Engineering and Information Technology is positive and will thus help transform the economy.

According to him, the two programmes will rapidly aid national development in the coming years.

Speaking at the 20th Anniversary and ICT Expo of the Valley View University, he said provisions made by various institutions across the country is a step in the right direction to take advantage of IT to boost the Ghanaian economy.

"We have high prospect as a country. For the past years, we’ve had tertiary institutions running Computer Science, Information Technology and Engineering courses, and by this we’ll have huge number of students graduating with the skills of developing software or hardware that can solve problems in the country.”

“By this, I believe we are doing well as a country to boost the economy", he said.

He added that the ICT Expo is to send signal that Valley View University is a centre of excellence in ICT.

He also noted that the university is equipping students at the senior high schools with the needed skills in ICT.

"This ICT Expo is to create and send a signal to others that Valley View University is a centre of excellence in ICT. We have had several institutions including senior high students. We are helping them to understand the new trends of computer sciences and technologies to solve national problems”, he mentioned.

At the expo, intelligent, knowledge and value based artificial intelligence system were exhibited that will equip students with the capacity to analyse problems and provide realistic theoretical and pragmatic solutions relevant in addressing Ghana’s challenges with respect to technology.
