The recall of some Toyota vehicles in the US market may affect some users here in Ghana.
Toyota has announced another recall involving more than one million cars.
These are the 2005 to 2008 Matrix and Corolla. The move is as a result of engine defects that the U.S regulators say could cause cars to stall at any speed without warning.
The recall could affect second hand users of these models here in Ghana.
This is because most of the home use Toyota Matrix and Corolla vehicles on the local market are from the US.
But these vehicles do not come under the control of the Toyota office here in Ghana.
It will therefore be difficult to get some warranty for users.
Henry Sackey, transport engineer with Dates Limited told Joy Business it is difficult to quantify the total number of such vehicles on the Ghanaian market.
“Vehicles as they come out from production consistently have problems which are resolved when they go in for service.
“So currently what I will think is that I will believe that quite a number of them may be on the market but then, of course some of them may have had the chance to go in for the defects to be effected before they were exported to Ghana,” he said.
