Vice-Chancellor for the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has urged alumni in the Diaspora to attend the 2020 homecoming event by the school.
Professor Okoe Amartey made the call in Toronto, Canada when he met with executives of the North American branch of IPS/UPSA Alumni association over the weekend.
The Alumni Homecoming slated for 29th May, 2020, forms part of activities to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the University.
It is expected that this event will attract all distinguished alumni from across the globe to the UPSA for fun and networking with old mates.
Prof. Amartey revealed that the Homecoming event will also be used to celebrate alumni who have and continue to make the University proud in their various fields of endeavour.
The VC further reiterated Management’s commitment to making the UPSA brand globally recognised, nationally entrenched and locally relevant.
He also outlined a number of initiatives and projects undertaken by the University to ensure that it achieves its short and long-term development plans which hinge on enhancing the institutional image, improving institutional effectiveness, promoting research, and competing in the global higher education environment.
Prof Amartey appealed to the various alumni groups in the diaspora to contribute towards the Vice-Chancellor Endowment Fund (VCEF) which was instituted in 2018 to offer scholarships to brilliant but financially-challenged students.
