A group of third-year students from the Public Relations NGO and Business Administration classes at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has donated essential medical equipment and drugs to the university’s Medical Centre.

The items donated included a pharmacy label printer with software, an ear irrigation machine, two otoscopes, three thermometer guns, a glucometer, and a box of assorted medicines.

Additionally, the students presented a 2.0 HP air conditioner to the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Studies.

Lead Lecturer for the PR NGO course, Sandra Yeboah Nyarko, who spearheaded the initiative, explained that the donation was aimed at equipping the clinic with vital tools to enhance its ability to serve the university community effectively.

“This gesture is also intended to complement the efforts of UPSA Management in addressing the pressing healthcare needs of the community,” she added.

The medical equipment was received by a team of medical staff at the UPSA Clinic, while the air conditioner was handed over to the Head of the Department of Communication Studies, Dr. Adwoa Amankwah.

Expressing her gratitude, Dr Amankwah commended the students and their lecturer for the thoughtful gesture, emphasising its potential to significantly improve healthcare services on campus.

Director of the UPSA Research and Consultancy Centre, Prof. Abigail Opoku Mensah, also lauded the initiative, describing it as a testament to the student’s commitment to fostering community and collaboration within the institution.

“The donation further highlights the students’ dedication to enhancing the university’s facilities and making a meaningful impact on campus,” Prof. Mensah remarked.

She also acknowledged the financial contributions of the students and the support of various sponsors that made the initiative possible.
