The Upper East Regional Coordinating Council have taken delivery of 250,000 energy conservation bulbs from the Ministry of Energy for distribution to the eight municipal and districts in the Region.
Mr Alhassan Osman, National Zonal Coordinator of Compact Florescent Lamp in charge of northern sector, presenting the bulbs said they were part of the major alternative measures to conserve and ease the energy crisis in the country.
He explained that the bulbs produced less heat and did not consume much energy as those being used.
Mr Alhassan Samari, Upper East Regional Minister, who received the bulbs, urged Ghanaians to use the new bulbs since they saved energy and not costly.
Mr Stephen Yakubu, Upper East Regional Coordinator of Compact Florescent Lamp, asked opinion leaders, Municipal and District Chief Executives and the Media to advocate and encourage the public to patronize the new bulbs to help avert future energy crisis in the country.
He said the bulbs would be launched in the Region and made available at an affordable price soon.
