The Universal Hospitals Group (UHG), has donated medical consumables to two hospital facilities at separate ceremonies on their premises in the Greater Accra Region.

The beneficiary hospitals are the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital and St. John of God Hospital at Amrahia.

The items will aid the hospitals to provide the needed healthcare for patients and also to help in the fight against the spread and management of the coronavirus in the country.

The items include endotracheal tubes, POP’s, protective clothing, medical grade face masks, face shields and other medical consumables.

Presenting the items to the hospitals, the CEO of the Universal Hospitals Group, Frederick Amissah, said he was proud at the initiative as UHG seeks to promote equity in the provision of quality health care which constitutes one of the main objectives of the company.

“Superior healthcare for all Ghanaians  is our mandate," Mr Amissah reiterated.

Mr. Amissah also appealed to other industry players, corporate bodies and private individuals to support medical teams and facilities across the country, as the government and the Ministry of Health alone cannot carry the burden.

In attendance also were the COO of UHG, Neena Oduro and the CFO, Eric Mensah-Bonsu.

Receiving the items, the senior medical officer in charge Lena Anane Abebrese thanked the management of the Universal Hospital Group for the gesture.

Madam Lena Abebrese said the protective clothing will help them most especially in this era of the deadly Covid-19

"It will help them to be able to deliver efficient health care service to patients with better protection."

At St. John of God Hospital, the items were received by the Assistant Director of the hospital, Paullinus Toh kisam, who thanked the company for the gesture, adding that the items will help the in diverse ways.

The Assistant Director further appealed to other corporate bodies to come into their aid.
