Unity blooms in Kintampo Assembly

The Kintampo North District Chief Executive, Mr. Awudulai Razak, has commended the unity in the Assembly and urged members to maintain the spirit to initiate and complete development programmes to help improve living standards in the area. Addressing the first ordinary meeting of the fifth session of the Assembly at Kintampo, the DCE expressed satisfaction with the contributions of the members at meetings, which, he said, portrayed their maturity in the democratic dispensation. Mr. Razak expressed regret over the destruction of some buildings, including school blocks, in the area during a recent downpour and disclosed that the National Disaster Management Organisation had taken inventory of the damage caused to seek relief items for the rehabilitation of the affected people and buildings. He said the District Assembly was also looking for funds to procure roofing sheets, boards and other logistics to repair the school buildings. Mr. Razak entreated the Assembly Members to educate and encourage their people to pay their taxes to enable the Assembly to undertake more development projects in the communities. He expressed concern about recent clashes between Fulani cattle herdsmen and farmers in the area, which was smothered by security agencies, a situation that he stressed affected the development of the district. The DCE explained that the Assembly had to spend colossal sums of money on the security officials in maintaining peace and order in the affected areas. The Assembly is funding the construction of a students’ hostel for Kintampo Rural Health Training School, a two-storey building for a police station and an urban council administration office. Mr. James Manu, Presiding Member, called on the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to organize orientation courses for Assembly Members to help them to serve in their electoral areas well. He advised the members to pay regular visits to their electoral areas to collate the needs, problems and views of their people, which they could present to the Assembly for the necessary attention. Mr. S.K. Dassah, District Registrar of Births and Deaths called on the Members to educate parents to register their newly born babies to enable the department. Source: GNA
