Ghana's Satellites lost on Sunday in the first leg of the 2017 Africa Youth Champions qualifier against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa.
The national U-20 team went down 2-0 under 10 minutes, but an 88th minute consolation means the former world youth champions return to Ghana with something of an advantage ahead of the second leg.
Satellites boss Masud Didi Dramani named an attacking-looking team, and for an away game on the continent, that's usually not a good idea. The former Kotoko gaffer saw his pay for their constant attempts to go forward as early as the fourth minute.
Mohammed Ome was quickest to finish off an attack from the side from the horn of Africa. While Ghana made to catch their breath, their hosts struck again five minutes later through the same player.
The Satellites, to their credit and against the climactic disadvantage of high altitude, played their hearts out.
Late in the second half, Jonathan Osabutey nicked a vital away goal that may prove decisive when the junior Walyas visits Accra in two weeks.
The winner of the tie over the two legs will meet Tunisia or Senegal.
