The Bibiani Circuit Court, presided over by Mr. Kwaku Aboagye has fined two sisters GH¢180 each for destroying a wooden kitchen valued at GH¢400 belonging to their sister-in-law.
They are Cecilia Boateng, 22 and Felicia Alima, 24.
The two sisters who pleaded guilty would serve 12 months each in prison if they failed to pay the fine.
The court further ordered them to pay for the cost of the kitchen and bonded them to be of good behaviour for 12 months or in default serve 12 months’ imprisonment.
Prosecuting, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Joseph Anneh told the court that the complainant, Faustina Boakye was the wife of their late brother Kanto Kwaku with whom she had three children.
DSP Anneh said not long after Faustina lost the husband, the two sisters started harassing her and the children with the view of ejecting her from the room, which she was occupying with her husband.
The prosecution said on August 31, 2007 at Fawokabra, near Sefwi Wiaso where the three were living, the accused persons picked up a quarrel with their sister-in-law.
After the quarrel, Faustina left for her farm and the two sisters took advantage of her absence and destroyed her kitchen.
DSP Anneh said she made a report to the police and the two were arrested.
