Two unemployed young men who sneaked into the room of a trader at Hatsokope near Denu and stole her 300,000 cedis were on Tuesday sentenced to various terms of imprisonment by a circuit court at Aflao.
Dogbefa Ganyo, 24 and Alex Nyadanu, 23, were jailed two years each on two counts of unlawful entry and stealing.
Nyadanu was additionally jailed two years for causing unlawful harm.
The sentences are to run consecutively.
They both pleaded not guilty.
The court presided over by Group-Captain Martin Obeng-Ntim (rtd.) was told that at about 22:00 hours on December 19, 2005, Ganyo and Nyadanu, known criminals in the area, were spotted by a witness emerging from the complainant's room through the window.
He said the complainant who was informed in her store subsequently found out that her window was forced open and her money was missing.
Mr Tetteh said the complainant later that night confronted the two, but they denied any involvement, during arguments, Nyadanu attempted assaulting the complainant but an elderly bystander prevented him from doing so.
He said Nyadanu spotted the elderly man in the town the following day and assaulted him, inflicting injury on his cheek with a sharp object for coming between him and the complainant the previous day.
