Two men have been arrested by the police for attempting to rob a driver of his taxi at Ridge in Accra.
The suspects are Stephen Kwadwo Danso, 19, and Dennis Ofori Annan, 23, both unemployed.
The Ministries Police Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Joseph Oklu Gyamerah, told the 'Times' that on December 24, at about 8:00p.m, the two suspects in the company of Tettey (at large) hired a taxi with registration number GW 4819W driven by Dickson Boakye from Labadi to the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) for a programme.
The Commander said, according to Boakye when they reached the AICC the suspects directed him to proceed to Ridge.
Chief Supt Gyamerah said on reaching the old Passport Office, they pulled out a knife on Boakye and ordered him to stop the car.
He said the suspects demanded the ignition key to the car which he obliged.
He said unfortunately for the suspects, a car approached and with the help of a police patrol team, Danso and Annan were arrested while Tetley an accomplice escaped.
The commander said the police had mounted a search for Tettey.
