Tullow Ghana has donated 200 pieces of Samsung Galaxy A7 tablets worth $100,000 to the Ghana Health Service.
Responding to the Covid-19 pandemic in Ghana, the government of Ghana rolled out the National Vaccination Days campaign aimed at vaccinating about 64% of the population to help reduce fatalities from infection and the impact of the pandemic Ghana.
To support the government’s fight against Covid-19, Tullow Ghana, donated these ultra-modern portable tablets to augment the Information Technology logistics of the Ghana Health Services that will be used during government’s “National Vaccination Days” which was launched on January 31, 2022 and other vaccination campaigns.
Deputy Managing Director of Tullow Ghana, Cynthia Lumor, said “this donation is part of Tullow Ghana’s Shared Prosperity drive to support government’s efforts to containe and control the impact of Covid-19 in Ghana.
“As a responsible company, we consider this gesture as our commitment to the government and people of Ghana in the fight to end Covid-19”.
Receiving the devices, Director General for the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye said “these will go a long way to help us to instantly capture the data into our database. As we indicated earlier, we have deployed about 30,000 health staff across the country for this exercise for the next five days. Each team will need at least one tablet, so this adds up to the number of tablets we’re deploying so that we won’t have to write on paper before we spend time to key in the data.”
“We hope that other organisations including individuals will take a cue from this and support us to fight this pandemic”.
The SIM-enabled internet-compatible tablets, come with high capacity memory and processing chips to aid seamless and fast data gathering during the registration phase of the National Covid-19 Vaccination Days campaign and subsequent vaccination exercises that will be conducted.
