The women's wing of the Public Services Workers Union has been called upon to study the Union's constitution to enable them become conversant with its provisions.
Mr Ellis Ankomah, Western Regional Chairman of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), made the call at the first ordinary meeting of the PSWU women's wing in Takoradi on Wednesday.
He noted that studying the provisions would enable the women to make informed decisions on union matters to be able to contribute to matters concerning their welfare as well as make them eligible for positions in the union.
Mr Ankomah also reminded the women to take interest in understanding the Single Spine Salary structure which sought to place civil servants and other public workers on equal pedestal.
He noted that when implemented effectively, the single spine salary structure would remove discrepancies in the salary structures of public sector workers.
Ms Christiana Carl Oparebea, National Chairperson of PSWU of the TUC, advised the women to prepare themselves to take up positions in the Association.
The PSWU regional secretariat has put up educational programmes such as breast and cervic cancer awareness creation, menopausal symptoms, and nutrition among others as part of the year-long activity.
