Mr Elvis Acheampong, Chief Executive Officer of the Life-U-Lead Incorporated, an institution based in the United States of America (USA), has expressed concern about increasing rate of tribalism and its effects on socio-economic development.
He noted that such practices also tended to divide the people resulting in conflicts and wars and, therefore, appealed to Ghanaians to avoid the practice to live in peace and harmony.
Mr. Acheampong was speaking on the effects of Tribalism jointly organized by Life-U-Lead Incorporated and Spirit FM Station, in Kumasi, at the weekend.
The symposium, which attracted over 60 participants selected from the various ethnic groups in the country, was sponsored by Gateway International Church, USA.
It was designed to enlighten the public to know the problems associated with tribalism and the need to avoid it in society.
He emphasized the need for the people to create a peaceful atmosphere at all times to enable them to contribute meaningfully towards national development.
The CEO advised them on the need for the people to respect their culture, adding, “You can never forget about where you come from but you also need to respect other people’s culture.”
Mr. Albert Saah, a Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on his part, urged Ghanaians to live in unity, peace, mutual understanding and love for each other.
